Embassy Services for VisasEmbassy services for visas apply to temporary residence, business visits, foreign studies, and tourism. Currently, visas are only available for the provinces Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Fujian, Yunnan, and Hainan. The types of visas currently available are tourist visas (subclass 676), business visas (subclass 456), transit visas, temporary residence, resident return, permanent residence, and Australian citizenship by descent. This is determined by whether one is visiting the country, migrating to the country, working in the country, studying in the country, transiting the country, returning as a resident of the country, applying for a citizen by conferral, or registering as a citizen by descent. Applying for VisasIn order to enter the Consulate to apply for a visa, one must bring a passport or photo identification card and pass a security check. Processing involves two offices, the Visa Lodgement and the Visa Evidence offices in rooms 11/F and 12/F, respectively. Both offices are open for rather short periods of time Monday through Friday; the Lodgement office is open from 8:30 am to noon while the Evidence office is open from 10 am to 11 am. Telephone inquiries can be made within similarly stringent windows: between 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. For Business InterestsVisas are also allocated for those who are interested in investment or other business interests. These visas, called Business Skills Visas, are functional for short business visits or for extended stays in the interest of managing or creating a new company. One can also procure business development sponsorship as a part of the same initiative. They are delineated into three different types: business visits for short business-oriented stays; provisional business development visas that are temporary, but can lead to permanent residences; and permanent business development visas, which is essentially a permanent residence visa procured via business development in a target country. |
